Driveway Care

Now that you have a new driveway here are some tips to keeping your driveway new...

  • Re-seal your driveway every 2 years to protect it from harmful elements that can seep in the asphalt.  Such as anti-freeze, gasoline, and all other fluids and leaks from cars.
  • Any sharp objects must have a piece of plywood underneath it to avoid the holes in your driveway.
  • Any heavy vechiles such as motor homes, trucks, tractor trailers, etc. should have plywood under the tires.
  • Avoid driving on the edges of your driveway since nothing is there to support the edges, they are the weakest part of your driveway.  They will crumble and crack.  You can put dirt/soil there to support the edges
  • To avoid tire marking or depression in your new driveway DO NOT pull in quickly, pull out quickly, and DO NOT turn wheel while vehicle is not in motion.
  • Stay off of your driveway once paved for 5 full days.Water down on hot days, this will temporarily harden the asphalt. If you see soaps suds DO NOT be alarmed. It is the reaction with the chlorine in the city water and oil that is found in the asphalt. Asphalt may look smoother in some areas than others. This is because of what the asphalt contains in it. Which is various sizes of stone, sand, liquid asphalt, and other ingredients that cause the texture of the surface to be different.
